Koufonisia, the place before the flowers

Every island wedding begins long before the first stem: with the place itself. Koufonisia gives you light that changes by the hour, water in two distinct blues, and stone that holds the day's heat until late. These are the materials we work with before the scissors ever come out. Before designing anything, we walk the site at different hours. We learn how the sun falls across the table, where the meltemi arrives from, what a bloom can survive in July heat. The floral design that follows exists to converse with all of that — never to cover it.
